About Samurai Velvet
Samurai Velvet is an up-and-coming duo of fresh talent based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania who’s ready to unlock their art for the world to experience. The artists behind their eclectic blend of neosoul-R&B-pop-electric sounds are Saige and Joe. The duo finds inspiration from artists like SZA, James Fauntleroy and The Internet, and would classify themselves with the likes of Ravyn Lenae as well as the singer/producer combo Alina Baraz and Galimatias, though Samurai Velvet’s sound really is a beast of its own. Their debut EP, SUEDE (coming soon), combines elements of nature and nightlife with Saige’s mysterious, alluring vocals and Joe’s hard-hitting electronic beats. Their two singles from the EP, Siren and Nite Out, each take that collision of the earthly and the digital to new heights.
Samurai Velvet makes music for “anyone who will listen,” but most importantly, “we’re making it for ourselves, it’s music that we want to listen to.” Both have felt a natural connection to music from the time they were young, studying and creating all the way from childhood through college. Samurai Velvet has been working on their first EP for almost three years on and off, and the work has absolutely been worth its time. From the beginning of its creation, the pair wasn’t even aiming at becoming Samurai Velvet, they were just two friends who shared a deep passion for music. That’s why musical integrity is so vital to their success; they’re not in the music business to become “stars,” it truly is all about creativity and expression for this natural-born duo.
Along with the release of their EP SUEDE, Samurai Velvet is currently working on new music for their next project, as well as planning live performances in the Pittsburgh area and around the northeastern United States.
